At least one person was killed and 15 injured as Russian attacks destroyed housing stock in Kyiv and Kharkiv, while the Kremlin reiterated demands for territorial concessions. The strikes caused extensive destruction to residential buildings as Moscow maintained its negotiating position.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko issued emergency warnings that Kyiv was “under a massive enemy attack,” as housing stock was destroyed across the capital. The bombardment targeted residential buildings, causing casualties and extensive property destruction. Heat and water services were disrupted as residential areas sustained major damage.

In Kharkiv, Iranian-made Shahed drones destroyed housing stock in several residential complexes, as confirmed by Mayor Igor Terekhov. The drone strikes caused widespread destruction to civilian housing, adding to the thousands of homes damaged throughout the war. The northeastern city’s housing stock has been severely depleted.

Despite the destruction of housing stock, diplomatic discussions continued in Abu Dhabi, though the Kremlin reiterated demands. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Ukrainian armed forces must withdraw from the Donbas, maintaining Moscow’s negotiating position. The UAE foreign ministry described the talks as efforts “to promote dialogue and identify political solutions.”

President Zelensky announced that peace proposals were “nearly ready” despite the Kremlin’s reiterated demands. He proposed creating a free trade zone in eastern Ukraine under Kyiv’s control as an alternative approach. President Putin met with Trump’s envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, while territorial demands remained the central obstacle.
