During recent talks in Hanoi, senior officials from Vietnam and Japan underscored their dedication to enhancing cooperation between the Communist Party of Vietnam and Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), as well as their respective legislative bodies. Nguyễn Duy Ngọc, a prominent Communist Party official, met with Hagiuda Koichi, the Executive Acting Secretary-General of the LDP, to discuss the ongoing partnership.
The discussions highlighted the robust growth of the Vietnam–Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with both sides agreeing to intensify political dialogue and parliamentary exchanges. This commitment follows the visit of Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi to Vietnam earlier this year, which further cemented the ties between the two nations.
Nguyễn Duy Ngọc emphasized Vietnam’s impressive economic accomplishments and the progress of administrative reforms in the country. He suggested that Japan could assist by sharing its expertise in local governance and decentralization, which would aid Vietnam’s institutional development. Additionally, he called for expanded collaboration in several cutting-edge fields, including human resource development, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, green transition, economic security, and quantum technology.
The Vietnamese official also stressed the importance of stronger ties between the parliamentary friendship groups of both countries and encouraged more exchanges involving young lawmakers. Moreover, Vietnam requested Japan’s continued support for the Vietnamese community residing there. In a move to bolster people-to-people connections, Vietnam proposed simplifying visa procedures with the ultimate aim of achieving visa-free travel for its citizens.
Hagiuda Koichi expressed Japan’s support for expanding bilateral cooperation, particularly in areas of advanced technologies, digital innovation, and green energy. He assured that the LDP and Japanese parliament would continue to promote exchanges and joint initiatives, reinforcing the strong relationship between the two countries.
